4 UGLY DJs ONLY Vol. ONE: file under alternative dance music — a snarling snapshot of the unconventionally attractive side of underground dance music. Curated for the late-blooming, ugly duckling disco dollies, this seven-track collection veers through busted club experiments, mutant techno, and haunted house heaters. Each artist pushes dance music into strange, unconventional terrain — unafraid to embrace the peculiar, the abrasive, and sometimes even the ugly.

The artists featured on Vol. ONE include:

Thomass Jackson
Thomass Jackson is a self-taught musician, producer, and DJ who in recent years has positioned himself as one of the freshest and most interesting proposals in the Latin American electronic scene. He has released music through labels such as Multi Culti, Correspondant, Lumiere Noire, and his own label, Calypso Records, one of the most relevant labels in the national scene alongside Iñigo Vontier. Thomass can move between genres and styles without losing his distinctiveness.

dj_2button

UK born, Vancouver based dj_2button is a multi-disciplinary artist, producer, dj and record label owner of Weirdos inc. Known for his eclectic story telling style of djing, fusing genres such as, downtempo, ambient, psychedelic, left eld techno, to new beat / wave and house & disco with a heavy focus on spacey, balearic and dub sounds. He tries to hit the decks with a spontaneous and experimental approach to everything he does.

A DJ with 10 years experience behind the booth, from playing in bars and clubs in Bath and Bristol since 2014, and organising low key warehouse parties in London and plenty of Airtime on Bristols Noods Radio with a residency that ran from 2017-2019. It wasn’t until moving to Canada in 2019 and post pandemic that he started to take music and production more seriously and started releasing music and created Weirdos inc. Which since it’s inception has become a label, artist collective, radio show, a pop up club night around various venues, and pushing its 4th year of the now already legendary Bush Rave, a low cost mini festival in the heart of the BC woodland, all outlets within the con nes of Vancouver's beautiful but seemingly unsustainable scene.

HIGHLECTRiX

HIGHLECTRiX is a dive into territories of unknown speed. Music captured in dreams. Nightmares in a blank canvas. Enigmatic synths immersed into acid glimpses. Clouds of bass plunged into breaks. Tribal temptations colliding with psychedelic desires. Those dreams you won’t tell anyone. Right From subconscious to speakers.
Etbonz

Etbonz / Elliot Thomas has got the connect on pure cosmic energy. His work comes powered by manifold astral hardware and samples pulled from the psychedelic thread of 80’s and 90’s film and dance music. His tunes range from dancefloor epics brimming with force, to introspective transportive head swirlers, and have appeared on labels such as Bahnsteig 23, Love on the Rocks, Doom Chakra among many other luminaries. His tracks are regularly played out by the headiest of heads, including DJ Harvey, Felix Dickinson, Nick Höppner, Jennifer Cardini, Palms Trax, & Ron Like Hell.

Morpheme

From the shadowed corners of nowhere and the fractured edges of reality emerge Morpheme, the sonic duo of Zero and None. Born of silence, chaos, and the strange beauty in between. No one knows where they came from. All that’s certain is they didn’t arrive—they appeared, as if summoned by the hum of electronic machines and forgotten dreams.

None, the architect of melody and rhythm, sculpts sounds that burrow deep into the psyche. Zero, the voice of confusion, breathes life into lyrics that echo like confessions whispered in the dark. Morpheme creates songs that feel like pop-induced fever dreams—demented ear worms.

No past. No future. Just the void between—this is Morpheme.

Wormbox

The collaboration of djs/producers Break Mode and Cole Baby, Wormbox has been burning the midnight soil since their debut, A New Age Cat. With mixes for Electric Shapes and Gop Tun, and a growing list of productions popping up at labels around the world, these two worms demonstrate a special pairing which is anything but grounded.

MagicPink

MagicPink is Tara Swenson. She has been sporadically producing bedroom recordings for over 20 years, spanning a range of styles and influences. She currently makes music from her forest cottage in Tenino, WA.

Together, these artists have formed a crooked constellation of acid-damaged jams and asymmetrical DJ tools.
